Our
Story

Pinedale Christian Church began with a simple vision: a group of families who saw the need for a church in the southern part of Winston-Salem.

The Urban Street Congregation

In 1913,

In 1913, the familes started meeting in a grove near Urban Street, then moved into a nearby house. Not long after, they outgrew that space. With the help of Fourth Street Church of Christ, they built their first building and began worshipping there in 1914 as the Urban Street Church of Christ.
As the church continued to grow,
God continued to open new doors.

The Sprague Street Congregation

In 1915,

The congregation moved to a new location at Sprague and Dacian Streets, becoming the Sprague Street Church of Christ. Over the years, the church expanded its reach and even helped establish new congregations throughout the area.

The Pinedale Congregation

By The Mid-1960’s,

It became clear it was time to take another step.
Land was purchased, a new building was constructed, and in 1968, Pinedale Church of Christ opened at its current location—where ministry continues today.

Where We’re Headed

Our Future

In keeping with the legacy of faith passed down to us, Pinedale remains committed to sharing the Gospel in Forsyth and Davidson counties and around the world. With a strong emphasis on children’s and student ministries, missions, and Biblical teaching, we seek to help every person connect with Jesus and with one another.

That’s a mindset we inherited—and one we’re committed to passing on to the next generation.
